Why Choose Us?

We are the only exclusive Bridal Gown Cleaning & Preservation company in the midwest. We only clean, spot only, press, restore and/or preserve wedding gowns. Wedding gowns are our only business!

Each dress is handled with care to protect the style and trim.

We are not an “assembly line cleaners”, each gown is cleaned individually.

We do our spotting and cleaning on site we do not send your gown away.

Unlike most dry-cleaners, we ask you to make an appointment with us to personally inspect your gown BEFORE after cleaning.

When we preserve, your gown is cushioned with special acid-free tissue to help retain the soft flow of the gown. It is then placed in our trademarked MuseumCare™ acid-free storage box. White gloves and written instructions are included for your use in the future when handling your gown to protect the integrity of the preservation.

The owner does all our spotting and cleaning. We do not seal our chests.

Why choose an exclusive bridal gown cleaners?

Wedding gowns are delicate. The beautiful laces, beading fabrics and trims require special care by a skilled and professional cleaner. We have over 40 years of experience, knowledge, and awareness in the cleaning of your bridal gown. We are dedicated to cleaning and preserving your precious bridal gown, entrusted to us, with the utmost care. We understand how important your gown is to you.

We will customize our services to fit your needs, from removing 1st small stain to a complete restoration of a vintage gown.

We carefully inspect and prepare your bridal gown before cleaning. We check for spots, age, wear areas, any and all needed repairs; loose buttons or beads, open seams, tears, damaged zippers, etc., anything that should be fixed. Beads and other trims are tested for “clean-ability”. Some things should be done before cleaning, like removing or reinforcing & covering buttons, so they don't become damaged during cleaning. Your gown is then professionally hand spotted and gently cleaned alone in crystal-clear solution for a brief period. It's checked again, and if necessary, it's post spotted, then skillfully hand finished. Any other finishing touches, like re-sewing buttons or trims, more repairs, etc., are done at this time. We then perform another complete inspection of your gown to insure that it is in perfect shape and ready for long-term storage.

About our owner!

Karen Boehne, the founder of WGSC (Wedding Gown Care Specialist) started drycleaning in 1968 at her parents cleaners.

Throughout that time she has spoken at the Women's Expo and Minnesota Cleaner Association Annual meetings. Karen has been a guest speaker for the Twin City Bridal Engagement Parties, and the Minnesota Association of Bridal  Consultants. She has been featured in Star Tribune, quoted in Minneapolis/St. Paul magazine and Pioneer Press and a gown she restored was featured on "Inside Edition." As a pioneer in the city cleaning industry Karen designed and built the first drive up dry cleaners in Brooklyn Park. It was a show case cleaners, for her and for the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency who used it for their seminars.  She hosted numerous other seminars for the International Fabricate Institute and Minnesota Cleaners Association for owners and employees from all around the state on drycleaning and pressing of garments including wedding gowns.

Karen has served on the Mpls - cleaners Association board and president of that association. She is currently a national board member of the wedding Gown Association.

In early 2000 Karen retired from drycleaning. In 2001 after her own daughters wedding she saw the need for a service that specialized in only wedding gowns. After much research into the proper care and preservation of gowns, both new and vintage, she and her daughter Alicia Santi started Wedding Gown Care Specialist. They continue attending annual methods around the country. This is why they can understand how important you gown is to you.
