For Very Special Care of Your Very Special Gown...
Before the Wedding…
-
Do not leave your
gown in a plastic bag for any length of time.
The plastic can cause your gown or trim
of your gown to discolor or yellow.
-
Do not hang your
gown from the sleeves, this may cause pulling or
stretching of your gown. Use the lingerie straps
sewn into your gown.
-
Make sure the
lingerie straps are sewn in securely for hanging
purpose. Figure out how to keep them tucked in
during the wedding.
-
Do not leave your
gown in light for extended periods of time, this
may cause the color or trim to yellow.
-
The best way to
store your gown prior to your wedding is in a
cotton sheet or muslin bag.
-
Take your pressed
gown out of the travel bag as soon as possible.
We offer free pressing.
-
Hang your gown in
a high place (on a ceiling hook if possible)
with the train hanging straight down.
-
Do not hang your
gown from a light fixture or ceiling sprinkler.
-
Keep pets and
children away from your gown.
During the Wedding…
-
Put together an emergency kit just in case of
emergencies.
-
Place several safety pins on the underneath side
of your gown where they won’t be seen, but
easily accessible for emergencies like; bustles,
straps breaking or gown tearing.
-
If
you get mud, dirt, blood or spills on a
synthetic fiber try water and a small amount of
liquid soap then rinse and blot. You can then
use a hair dryer.
Staying at least 6 inches away from gown.
-
If
you get grease, lipstick or non-soluble make-up
on your gown and it is a synthetic fiber use a
handy wipe or shout
wipe to remove stain. Test first
-
If
you have a natural fiber gown (like silk) it is
safer to try to camouflage a stain (baking soda,
corn starch, baby powder or white chalk). Never
rub on a silk gown only blot and do not use a
liquid on your silk gowns.
After the Wedding…
-
Have your gown
cleaned and preserved within four weeks of your
wedding if you have general soiling.
-
If you have other
type staining that occurred have your gown cared
for immediately.
-
Take down your
bustle to avoid damage of your gown.
-
Keep all your
accessories for your wedding attire together
with your gown for cleaning and preservation.
-
Keep your gown in
a cotton sheet not a plastic bag till you bring
it in for cleaning and preservation.
-
Do not allow your
gown to be vacuum sealed in a chest. It will set
in wrinkles and may inhibit moisture.
-
Never allow your
gown to be sent away.
-
Do not store your
gown in the attic or basement of a house.
