Ask how much experience the person handling your gown has. Have they had special training in wedding gowns only?
Wedding Gown Care Specialists have over 40 years experience in general dry cleaning doing over a thousand dresses. Our specialists have taken National Training Seminars and International
Fabricate Institute training on the care of wedding gowns exclusively.
Ask if they require that you sign a "Release" or a "Disclaimer". You should never be asked to sign any document that says they are not responsible for damage to your gown. They must guarantee that they will not melt or damage your beads, appliqués, fabric or trims. Wedding Gown Care Specialists guarantee every fabric and every sewn on bead, sequin or trim. Wedding Gown Care Specialists never requires that you sign any release or waiver which would allow us to mishandle or damage your gown in any way.
Ask if they include all accessories, such as your headpiece, veil, garter, etc. and at what additional charge. Many cleaners add extra charges for each additional item. Wedding Gown Care Specialists always has and always will include these items as free part of our standard, high quality cleaning and preservation service.
Ask about their preservation boxes. Demand that correctly sized, acid-free boxes, packaging materials are used for the preservation of your gown. Wedding Gown Care Specialists guarantees that correctly sized
triple layered acid free materials are used in every gown preservation
as well as all acid free tissue paper.
Ask if they guarantee that hidden stains like perspiration or white wines will be removed. Hidden stains can turn yellow within a very few years. ASK if you are allowed to inspect your gown - whenever you wish - to see that it has remained clean and
hasn't yellowed or developed oxidized stains. Wedding Gown Care Specialists unique anti-sugar treatment featured in Modern Bride & Bride’s ensure that all sugars, salt, and acid seen or unseen is removed. We include white cotton gloves to inspect your gown, in your own home at any time in the future, without harming your gown or your
guarantee.
Ask about price. If they charge one price for any gown, they are doing all gowns one way. Different fabrics,
styles, trims & stains require different care and should have varying prices. You save nothing if you pay less, but your gown is damaged by improper or unprofessional care! Wedding Gown Care Specialists prices vary from gown to gown - as they should - due to the specialized care required for various styles, fabrics, trims, and stains. Every gown is evaluated for the best and safest cleaning method for your gown.
Prices can range from $125 - $400.
Ask if they seal their gowns in preserved chests
Wedding Gown Care Specialists does not seal their
chests or boxes. You can and should open in
occasionally, but if you’ve come to believe that you
will damage your gown by allowing air inside, you’ve
been taken by the greatest scam ever. So, why do so many “gown preservation” companies seal their boxes? To keep you from seeing the gown! The only person protected by a sealed box is the cleaner, not you! Wedding Gown Care Specialist does not seal their chests and we encourage you to watch us package your gown. A sealed container can
also trap moisture and cause mildew or mold. Professional textile curators always recommend that a fabric be allowed to “breathe” in acid-free packaging
and should be moved or re-folded periodically.
Ask how long the cleaning & preservation process will take We usually take 2-4 weeks. We take our time to make sure it will be as perfect as it can be. Let us know if you have special circumstances that require special timing.
We can always get a dress done in a few days if
needed.
